A strong earthquake that was estimated to measure 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Uttarakhand around 8:50 pm on Wednesday. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and other areas across northern India.
Tremors were also reported from Uttaranchal, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
As per IMD, the epicentre of the earthquake was Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag, with a Magnitude of 5.5 and depth of 30 km.
“The epicentre is in Uttarakhand, the tremors felt in Delhi and NCR are the impulses,” an official at Centre for Seismology, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
