According to family sources, he attained martyrdom after being caught in a mine blast along the Indo-Pa border in Kupwara sector.

The eldest son of Doma and Jagat Singh Tamang, Dipen was a resident of Chambi village under Sitong-1 of Kurseong, his in-laws are from Latpanchar. He did his schooling from Panchvati Shelpu High School. He leaves behind a young wife and a baby son.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Tamang Family, and salute Dipen for his selfless sacrifice. We pray to God to grant them strength to overcome this irepairable loss.

He is the third Gorkha soldier from our region to have been martyred in this past one month.
