Subedar Niranjan Chhetri – 1st Gorkhali Freedom Fighter to die for India

On June 8, 1891, freedom fighter Subedar Niranjan Chhetri was hanged to death in Manipur for waging war against British occupation. He is also the first freedom from Gorkha community to die in India’s freedom struggle.
