To me this election is about out right, our security, , our identity, and our very existence which has been is under threat from the Mamta Banerjee led TMC government of West Bengal. This election is primarily about Gorkhas and Gorkhaland Vs. the veiled attempts at diluting and eventually eradicating the Gorkha identity and the atrocities and injustices inflicted by Mamta Banerjee and TMC upon us and nothing else.
“We have sent a memorandum to the BJP, demanding Gorkhaland. They(BJP) have assured us that they will look into it. We are happy that their (BJP’s) manifesto speaks about bringing a permanent solution to the region,”
The release of BJP election manifesto created a mini-political controversy in the Darjeeling hills, with supporters of TMC regime quickly pointing out “Gorkhaland”‘ word is missing from it.
Politically, Darjeeling-Duars never belonged to West Bengal. The region was ruled by Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal. This has been admitted by the Government of West Bengal in a White Paper published in 1986.
Political resolution on the matter of Gorkhas

2.”We are committed to work towards finding a permanent political solution to the issue of Darjeeling Hills, Siliguri Terai and Dooars region.”
“Abuiii, tear gas le ta kya aakha poldo raicha!!” – I still remember people saying this line. I can still remember the fear of gunshot…

Apparently even people in the TMC camp are now saying things like,
• “I support TMC from head to toe, but my index finger belongs to BJP”,
• “ Amar Sir lai vote deu, kamal ko phul ma”
• “Mamata Didi amar rahos, BJP le jiti halos!!”.
“Confuse the crowd, ruin their hopes. Displace their leader replacing one from among. You would not require to put much hard effort. The confused, frustrated…
