Congress Manifesto fails to mention anything about Gorkhas, 11 Gorkha ST or even Sixth Schedule status
The Indian National Congress today released their 47-page manifesto, which covers almost every issue concerning our nation. Except for what matters to us the most – Gorkha aspirations.
Even though Hamro Party Chief Ajoy Edwards, who is apparently very close to Congress President Mallikarjun Khadgey and the Nehru family scion Rahul Gandhi, and had even met them to insert Gorkha issues in Congress Manifesto, the manifesto committee seems to have largely ignored his requests.
While Congress has promised full statehood to Puducherry, restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and inclusion of Ladakh into Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, it has failed to mention any issues related to the Gorkhas.
There is no mention of Darjeeling, or even inclusion of 11 left-out Gorkha sub-tribes as Schedule Tribes.
Is this the alternative Gorkhas need?
