30 members from the Darjeeling Hill Runners participated in the mega Tata Steel 25K Marathon in Kolkata today. All the members who participated completed their marathon in due qualifying time thus making Darjeeling proud.
The men finished the race but the ladies brought two medals to the Darjeeling Hill runners. Raskshanda Thapa finished 2:02:30 and was placed 2nd in the women’s section and first in the age category of 18-24 years and to Tshering Lamu Bhutia bagged the third position and 1st position in her age category 40 to 44 yrs.

Ashish Tamang did the best in the Male category in 1 hr 33 mins.
Joseph Chettri who had come first in the Delhi Half Marathon finished his 10 KM in 35 mins 36 seconds.
Other runners like Mahesh Tamang, Dipu Singh, Karma Tshering, Samten Bhutia and Siddharth Lama finished the race under 2 hours.
Ethiopia’s Birhanu Legese and Dibaba Kuma braced glory in the Elite 25K men’s and women’s categories respectively.
