SHOCKING – Hotel Ramada Management Accused of Sexual Assault

In a very alarming case, a sexual assault attempt was allegedly made against a lady staff of Ramada Hotel, Darjeeling by senior staff of the same hotel on the 14th of October. The girl, who is around 23-years-old, and a resident of Darjeeling had been associated with the hotel for the last one-and-a-half-years as housekeeping staff.

He added, “Initially they were shouting slogans, which quickly turned into a physical attack accompanied by Khukuri, knife, other sharp weapons and heavy stone pelting on our supporters and myself. Many of our BJP party workers and our alliance partner GJM party workers have been injured in the attack, who were sitting duck against a well-organized ambush. My private security officer was stuck on chest and upper body following his attempt to cover me from the oncoming barrage of blows and stones thrown at me. My Personal Security Officer was also injured when stones pelted on us hit his legs.”

Recounting the horror they had to face, Subham said, “In no time they started hitting us with fists and blows, and one of them hit me with an iron rod at the back, and since we were less in number we stood in a helpless situation and badly injured, wherein I fell unconscious. I sustained injuries on my upper lip, fingers and there are internal injuries as well.”



Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Hockey Association Gifts Plants to Event Guests

The Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Hockey Association organised an Inter-School Hockey Tournament for boys and girls at St. Robert’s School Ground on 22nd of September. The event marked the revival of school level hockey in Darjeeling Hills after five long years. The Joint Secretary of Bengal Hockey Association Kolkata, Dr Mohammad Khalid Hussian graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.




Inauguration of St Joseph’s College Geographical Society

On 02 September 2019, Department of Geography, St Joseph College inaugurated St Joseph’s College Geographical Society. Major objectives of this society is: to develop the critical thinking skill among the students; to explore the Eastern Himalaya with especial reference to Darjeeling Himalaya in terms of its history, culture, livelihood and physical make up; to organise a field survey with especial reference to disaster studies, spring management and rainwater harvesting in Darjeeling Himalaya.
