Darjeeling Lad Tashi Tobgyal Wins Prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award

TheDC team sends our warmest “Shout Out” to Shri. Tashi Tobgyal, for winning the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism award in the category of photo journalism (print).

Tashi hails from Khong Khola, Sonada and is an alumnus of St. Joseph School. After his schooling, he joined the Aligarh Muslim University. Tashi is a Special Photographer with The Indian Express.

The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards presided over by the Shri Rajnath Singh, the honourable Home Minister of India presented the winners their awards on Friday in New Delhi.

Tashi was awarded for the photograph of a 21 year old manual scavenger, “Jhony at work in Ghaziabad, UP” which was chosen for the RNG Awards in Photojournalism category.

Tashi Tobgyal has excelled in the field of Photo Journalism, and was on an earlier occasion chosen by the The Press Council of India (PCI) for the 2015 national award for excellence in journalism presented by the then President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee on the National Press day on Nov. 16, 2015.

The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, named after Ramnath Goenka, is one of the most prestigious award functions for Indian journalists today.
