We are sad to inform the passing away of Major KP Malla, one of the most prominent social workers from Darjeeling. He died in Siliguri earlier today. His dead body will be brought back to his beloved Darjeeling home, later today.
After retiring from the British Army, Major Krishna Prasad Malla came back to his native Darjeeling and immersed himself involved in social service.
Major KP Malla was the Secretary of Darjeeling Red Cross for a long time and worked on issues of disaster, blood donation and HIV AIDS.
He was a prolific writer, and wrote many articles, and essays concerning local issues of Darjeeling in local dailies.
In addition to all this, he was a tireless activist for ex-Army welfare, Consumer rights and the environment.
He was a Pioneering personality in social and environmental civil society movement in Darjeeling.
His death leaves a great void in Darjeeling. On behalf of all our readers, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. May God grant them the strength to overcome this irreparable loss.
