Five “Bhumiputra” candidates yesterday filed their nominations for Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.
Bhumiputra RB Rai filed his nomination on behalf of the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists (CPRM). Mr. Rai is one of the most experienced politicians around, with having served a stint as a CPI(M) Rajya Sabha nominee once and as a CPI(M) Lok Sabha candidate, which he quit to form the CPRM.
Bhumiputra Mr. Sankar Malakar filed his nomination on behalf of the Indian National Congress. He is a two time MLA and currently represents the Matigara-Naxalbari constituency at the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Bhumiputra Mr. Saman Pathak filed his nomination on behalf of the Communist Party of Indian (Marxist). Mr Pathak is a veteran politician too, with having served a stint as CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP.
Bhumiputra Mr. Amar Singh Rai filed his nomination on behalf of the Trinamool Congress. Mr Rai has served a stint as Darjeeling Municipality Chairman, and was the current MLA from Darjeeling, which he had won as a Gorkha Janmukti Morcha candidate in 2016.
Bhumiputra Dipak Kumar Roy filed his nomination on behalf of the Kamtapur People’s Party. He is relatively new in the filed
